Boori bucks the trend
Published:  11 September, 2008

At a time when most suppliers have had to increase prices Boori UK has reduced Country Collection and King Parrot wholesale prices by an average of 10% across most of the range. The company is also running summer promotions offering free mattresses with all cot beds, and free toy boxes or tidy drawers on room set purchases.

Stewart Waddell, director of Boori UK, explained that the opening of the new factory in Shanghai in May, and improved production facilities, has provided an opportunity to renegotiate prices based on volume. He says that the UK trade sometimes view Boori as a bespoke or boutique range whereas they are in fact a volume based business serving many markets. Recent shipments include Russia, Ukraine, Portugal and Greece. The company is becoming firmly established in South East Asia and the Middle East as well as Australia where Boori and King Parrot have been market leaders for many years.

The new Boori factory has a single shift production capacity of 200,000 units allowing for expansion into new markets and the design of selected own label products for larger retailers. The company has broken ground on a further production unit at a 35 acre site just outside Shanghai, aiming at further expansion in nursery furniture and diversification into children's furniture over the next two years.
