Announcement of the 2008 Practical Pre-School Awards
Published:  17 October, 2008

After many months of testing and analysing of results, the highly regarded 2008 Practical Pre-School Awards were announced to the book, toy and child care industry last month.

With 240 entries from 110 different companies, the Practical Pre-School Awards is one of the highlights for the toy, nursery and education resource sectors. Tested by childcare professionals, the results are viewed as a measure of what's good and what's not in a field that is swamped with choice.

The hotly contested Childcare Category received more entries than ever this year, with new entrant The Cottontail Company being crowned as overall winner for its Cottontail Nappy, a one size fits all washable nappy made from 100% organic cotton velour reusable cottontail nappy. The runner-up slot was taken by Buggysnuggle Ltd for its Buggysnuggle pushchair accessory.        Other companies to achieve the much coveted Gold Award status this year were Hippychick Ltd, Hauck Fun For Kids Ltd, Bibs & Stuff, Clearly Herbal, Stokke, Tots Bots, Haptic Ltd (distributer of Taggies), Cuski International, Cuddledry Ltd, Sleepytot Ltd, Coochi and Magmatic Ltd.

Kooltrade

Kooltrade has scooped the ‘Baby Jogger Distributor of the Year' award for 2008. This award is given out each year by US based Baby Jogger and is competed for by distributors from twenty five counties around the globe.

Commenting on the award, Kooltrade MD Jonathan Feingold said ‘We are very pleased to have been presented with this prestigious award, especially given the strength of the competition worldwide'.

Stokke

It has been around for over thirty five years but the Tripp Trapp highchair is still winning awards. The most recent is from Prima Baby and Parenting magazine which gave Tripp Trapp the ‘Best Value' badge in a test of ‘8 of the best' highchairs on the market.

This is a great result for the Norwegian company as it means consumers value longevity.

Bambino Mio

The UK's leading reusable nappy manufacturer, Bambino Mio, has again been awarded ‘Best Buy' and ‘Best Value' for their reusable nappies in the Prima Baby Reader Awards 2008. The awards are the only purely reader voted awards from any parenting title in the UK, making this a particularly significant achievement.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Bambino Mio has been presented with an award from the magazine. Editor Elaine Griffiths, said, ‘Bambino Mio is a consistent favourite with readers in the Prima Baby Reader Awards and it's no surprise. The products are great quality, affordable and parents know Bambino Mio is a name they can trust.'

Lollipop

The innovative nappy company, Lollipop that is based in Penzance and known for its environmentally friendly ethos, has been selected as a National Finalist in the 2008 Barclays Commercial Bank Green Leaders in Business Awards.

Beating off stiff competition, Lollipop Children's Products were presented with their National Finalist certificate before an audience of 250 at a glittering gala Awards luncheon held in at London's East Wintergarden in September.
