The BPA report that the recent NEC event was a major success despite the uncertain economic climate. Many exhibitors at BPA Baby & Child 2008 experienced an excellent show with valuable contracts being secured with large multiple retailers. The show attracted 1,800 visitors, which was about the same as last year, with 50 percent attending on the Sunday, 30 percent on Monday and 20 percent on Tuesday.
Janet Theodore of Janet Theodore Designs who exhibited for the first time commented, 'I had the most wonderful time on the Launchpad. It was amazing! Like being in a little community and I made some fantastic long-lasting friendships. I am now busy sorting through my orders and contacts and am planning a trip to Egypt to meet with my manufacturer, as we have four major retailers and 89 independent retailers interested in placing orders. This will keep me busy for the next year or two.'
Robynne Cole of Sierra Distribution, who was exhibiting her award-winning Arms Reach Co-Sleeper cot said, 'The show has been absolutely fantastic. Even if I had packed up on Sunday, I took enough orders in one day to more than cover the cost of my stand.'
It was not only the exhibitors who made valuable contacts, a Concept Award entrant has been approached by a major retailer with a view to launching their product and another is now discussing contracts with a distributor.
The Seminar Theatre, sponsored by Emma's Diary and the Product Arena, sponsored by Maclaren both made a lively addition to the show, particularly on Monday when visitors and exhibitors flocked to hear BBC TV presenter Geoff Burch share some of his more amusing and thought provoking ideas.
BPA's Event Co-ordinator, Sarah Firth was very pleased with how the show went commenting, 'I am delighted with the turn out for the show this year. The exhibitors made a huge effort and many of the stands were absolutely stunning. Despite many rumours suggesting otherwise, the show has been an outstanding success and the feedback I have received has been overwhelmingly positive. It has certainly been worth all of the extra effort we have put in this year, both in adding new attractions and in marketing the show.'
Next year, BPA Baby & Child will be staged at the Olympic venue; ExCel in London from Sunday 11th October to Tuesday 13th October 2008. Particularly with the increase in international visitors and exhibitors year-on-year, this centrally located venue provides easy accessibility and an attractive destination for visitors who wish to combine the show with a visit to the London's spectacular attractions.
