2008 Product Review

There's been no shortage of new wheels coming out of the factory during 2008, with many brands creating brand new designs from scratch. Concord has seen its Neo Carbon Travel System rocket to success even with it's top end price tag of just under £2000. It's quirky, highly stylised shape which combines trolly with chair is clean yet sophisticated and the many optional accessories have been well-received.

The Beep from Britax has proved a reliable, lightweight addition to their range, offering a pleasing minimalist shape with small but perfectly formed wheels. The fact that it can be used with the Baby-Safe infant carrier is an extra strength for retailers.

When My Child decided to come up with a new stroller to sell through Kooltrade, they decided to start at the end and work backwards. Using a panel of mums for design starters and advice on what really made a great buggy, the designers themselves came up with what the real-life parents wanted, not what they thought they should have. hence the Ultra Spacer, offers top quality fabrics, suspension on all four wheels and, as the name suggests, a larger than average seat that can reclines back to three positions.

Brother Max has made a big impact into the baby market over the past 12 months with an exciting range of products that truly give more than a twist in terms of design and innovation to anything that has gone before. The 3-in-1 Thermometer won the Innovation Award at the Mother & Baby Awards last month. And no wonder - it measures ear, forehead and room temperature, comes with a built-in cover for keeping the probe clean when not in use, gives a clear reading in a second on a back-lit screen, works for six months and then lets you know before the battery runs out. It can sit on a desk, fit on a wall and works whichever way up you turn it.

In bedding Kit for Kids has launched the first interactive, vibrating mattress called the ‘Rock-a-Bye Plus'. It offers a gentle pulse that can be controlled by a parent through voice recognition or manually. Roll on the adult version.
