Non-luxury goods not affected by Credit Crunch
Published:  06 February, 2009

Bottles, teats and soft toys are not products that parents are cutting down on in this time of credit crisis according to Vivienne van Eijkelenborg, Managing Director of the Dutch baby product company Difrax BV.

‘These products are indispensable items for any family with a new baby. Babies and children have to have the best, so that they can grow up carefree. So we have not noticed the crisis at all as yet.'

Taja Bloemer, head buyer at specialist baby shop Prénatal Nederland B.V., has even seen an increase in sales over the past few months.

‘We have seen a healthy growth, particularly in the product groups consisting largely of baby care products and in the ready-to-wear product groups.'

This year Difrax is making a substantial investment in new products, such as a dinner set and a new range of cups.

Difrax BV was formed in 1967, and is the largest and leading brand for baby products and toys in the Netherlands, with a range that includes bottles, soothers, baby care products and soft toys.
