It's war on germs at your local swimming pool

Warm and wet, swimming pools are exactly the kind of environment that all sorts of nasty bacteria adore. Luckily, chlorinated water and filter systems mean that most swimming pools are kept pretty clean. But pretty clean does not mean totally clean.

Cryptosporidium is a water-borne bacteria that causes gastro-intestinal illnesses and diarrhoea. It is increasingly found in our swimming pools, but no amount of chlorine will kill it. It lives in the faeces of animals and humans and, every day throughout the UK, babies and their oblivious parents are leeching it into municipal pools through inadequate nappies.
