The Mura, Dorel's first all-new stroller under the Maxi-Cosi brand for some time, was launched at Kind & Jugend and will have its first UK outing at BPA Baby & Child.
Dorel's decision to launch the Mura under the Maxi-Cosi brand suggests a re positioning for the world's largest nursery products manufacturer. Dorel placed its two previous strollers - the fantastically-successful Buzz and Zapp - firmly in the Quinny brand.
Despite the popularity of its Quinny stable-mates, the Maxi-Cosi Mura is most definitely not more of the same! Instead, Dorel has made an ambitious move to target a different sector of the stroller market and with this product, it has moved away from 'light and compact for mum', towards 'comfort for the child'.
The Mura offers levels of versatility, comfort and durability not seen for some time, all presented in an innovative package that showcases Maxi-Cosi's flair for great design and striking fabrics.
Designed for use from birth to four years of age, the Mura offers the option of a three- or four-wheeled stroller with a stylish, square-shaped chassis. Both versions are quick and easy to fold using handle-based buttons. There is a 'basic' fold, followed by a more compact fold if required, and the wheels can also be removed in a one-click movement for stowing in a smaller space.
Compatible with the top-selling CabrioFix car seat, it also offers a reversible seat unit and large shopping bag plus under-stroller shopping basket.
Accessories are: 'soft-pram body' carrycot, plus a rigid carrycot, two 'season sets' for winter and summer, and a new all-in-one footmuff which links into the stroller's harness.
The Mura has a soft, shaped seat (which, with true Maxi-Cosi pedigree, looks a little like a car seat) with harness and a 't-bar' handle for the child to hold. The seat is reversible, clicking off the stylish, robust frame with a single pull-handle. The foot-operated brake pedal can easily be accessed with the seat in either position, and the handle bar has a three-level height adjustment.
Comfort for the occupant is paramount in the design which has a soft, firm seat, air tyres (pump included), lots of room for the growing child, and excellent suspension.
Co-ordinated accessories include a 'soft pram body' that, although hugely popular in Germany, will be a new innovation for many UK consumers. This is a carrycot that folds almost flat for storage. When in use, one end hooks over the reclined pram seat and anchors with a clip at the other end making it easy and extremely quick to fit. A removable, washable liner and mattress - all fully co-ordinated - make this a practical and striking accessory for the Mura.
The Maxi-Cosi Mura is in production with availability in January 2008. Three colours will be available in the UK, each matched with a choice of new co-ordinated CabrioFix colourways: Atlantic Slice (two colours of blue) with CabrioFix in Frisbee; Flamingo Slice (pink and black) with CabrioFix in Flamingo Slice or Chilli Pepper; and Grey Slice (grey and black) with CabrioFix in Grey Slice or Phantom.
The RRP for the Maxi-Cosi Mura 3-wheeler will be £280.00 and for the 4-wheeler £300.00. The soft pram carrycot will be £69.99 and the rigid carrycot £125.00.
