With the forthcoming BPA Baby & Child Show taking centre stage in the industry for the autumn, we decided to catch up with innovative manufacturer Sunshine Kids to bring our readership up to date with developments at the company within the past 12 months.

The company has had an impressive and growing presence at trade shows for the past few years and raised eyebrows at Harrogate earlier this year when they ran a fantastic competition to win a £1000 holiday. Such was its success, it is something that they are repeating at BPA Baby & Child. Certainly if I was a retailer I would be making a bee line for their stand to place an order to be in with a chance of winning this great prize.

New trade web site

Earlier this year Sunshine Kids launched an innovative trade only web site which, having been give the password to, is both easy to use and to navigate. The thinking behind creating the trade web site was to get closer to their growing band of loyal stockists by making information easier to access. With full product specification, pack sizes, trade and retail process and easy access to marketing material, the site also has the most up to date order forms ready for downloading, making it quick and easy for stockists to place orders.

Product development

Sunshine Kids' new product development is second to none with a constant stream of new and exciting products being launched regularly to satisfy consumer demand. In fact 2007 has been a record year with no less than 15 new products being shown at last month's Kind und Jugend for the first time.

With a current portfolio of around 40 products the company is firmly positioned as the leader across various sectors of the industry including stroller accessories, travel safety products, travel accessories, car seat accessories, sun shades and feeding accessories.

Ian Morley, Executive Director of the company told me “With this rapid growth in the number of products and ultimately sales we have increased our marketing budget in line with turnover ensuring that Sunshine Kids stockists get the support they deserve. Our consumer advertising campaign now runs year round using carefully selected consumer titles to ensure maximum coverage of our target audience and increase awareness of the brand.”

Running hand in hand with the advertising campaign is an ongoing PR campaign that is achieving vital press coverage across an amazingly wide spread of media from monthly magazines to the national press.

Easy to do business with

The company has developed somewhat of a reputation for being easy to deal with and communicating regularly with their customers. Continuing this policy Sunshine Kids now utilise the latest in email broadcast technology to communicate with their customer base on a regular basis. This form of communication allows the company to promote new products, new marketing material, sales initiatives and special offers.

Turning our thoughts back to BPA Baby & Child the company will be taking their largest ever stand and are a key sponsor of the show. On display will be the complete range and as well as being in with a chance of winning that fantastic prize of a £1000 holiday, there is a 15% discount of all orders over £300 placed on the stand during the three days of the show.
