Spotlight on Anna Anson
Published:  01 October, 2007

With BPA Baby & Child almost upon us, we turn the Spotlight on Anna Anson who as Operations Direction for IQ Events will be looking after the exhibitors at the Show.

Q - When and where were you born?
A - 1st September 1968 in Walton on Thames, Surrey.

Q - Education? Qualifications?
A - Surbiton High School for Girls.

Q - Qualifications?
A - BSc degree in Environmental Sciences.

Q - Marital status and family?
A -
Married (since 1992) with no children

Q - First job?
A -
I worked for a small company on an alternative medicine show which ran at Olympia 2 and a couple of other trade events in the energy and betting sectors! I was basically the office administrator but I loved the buzz of being on site at the events.

Q - Then?
A -
I was made redundant from my first job and I took a job with a conference organiser. I eventually moved again to venue management working as Assistant Hall Manager at the Barbican Centre in London. I then worked for a company called Independent Exhibitions and worked on my first event at the NEC. I stayed eight years and managed a wide range of events in many of the UK venues, The Netherlands, Russia and Eastern Europe.

Q - Present job?
A -
Vicki and I set up IQ Events just over a year ago providing operational support for event and exhibition organisers. We both love what we do and having a business together has proved to be both brilliant fun and hard work.

Q - What do you do when not working?
A -
I love all sport especially motor racing, football (I'm a Spurs fan) and cricket. I managed to get to the Cricket World Cup in St Kitts earlier this year - it was an amazing experience. I'd love the chance to spend a little more time behind the wheel of a rally car or on a motor racing circuit.

Q - Favourite music?
A -
A really wide range from classical to heavy rock! I'm stuck in the '80's - I don't have an iPod and I still listen to most music on vinyl!

Q - Worst mistake?
A -
My worst mistake has been spending too long doing things I didn't enjoy. Now if I'm not enjoying it I don't do it.

Q - What would you like to be most remembered for?
A -
Well, it is a little late to be a supermodel or the first female Formula 1 Champion so I guess it would be for being a loyal friend who often made people smile!
