A new initiative that aims to help save the lives of babies and young children, has been unveiled. The concept is simple. It offers a unique opportunity for parents and carers to learn the basics of how to save a child's life. AF Babysafe is designed to work on a party plan basis, where the hosts invite other parents and carers to a 'party'.
Here, a specialist advisor gives a short course on basic first aid and symptom-spotting for young children. At the end of the session, first aid kits and other safety items are available so that people are prepared and properlyequipped in an emergency Andrew Farrar explained: “The more we explored the possibility of training people to do the same for their own children the more we saw that there was indeed a need and a willing audience. It became equally obvious that more training advisors would be needed to keep up with demand.” Sounds a possible extra service for some retailers.
