Welcome
December is traditionally a quiet month for Nursery but this month there seems to be plenty of News around.
Published:  05 December, 2007

The biggest 'Shock, Horror' news story this month is the News that Jenny Burrows has decided to resign from the BPA and will leave at the end of the year.

Jenny has been with the BPA for 11 years, starting at a time when it was simply Robert Chantry-Price and a desk! During those eleven years, Jenny has worked tirelessly for the industry and it is thanks to her hard work and dedication that BPA Baby & Child is the success it is. Many companies owe much of their success to her help. I know that without her support my job would have been made much more difficult. So may I be the first to publicly say we're sorry to see you go. It won't be the same without you and thank you for everything you've done.

And to cap it all, Rochingham has come to the end of an era as well. Following the decision of its parent group to relocate the business from Kent to Derbsyshire, Brian, Peter and Carol have all decided it is time to retire (you don't look old enough folks!). As far as I and many others are concerned these three ARE Rochingham. I wish them all the best for a very long and happy retirement.

Don't forget that Toy Fair is coming up soon. Held at London's ExCeL from January 30 to February 2nd there will be around 235 companies exhibiting. There's bound to be something of interest. Further information will be in next month's issue.

I'm hoping that I will be forgiven for mispelling the name of the Retailer of the Year in last month's issue. It is, of course, Kiddicare - with an i - who won. I've double checked and their name is spelt correctly in the News this month - collecting their prize from Boori for their continued performance as a Boori Nursery Furniture retail store.

This issue is the last one for 2007, so we decided to see if we could find the best product of the year. See page 24 for the contenders. We'll be announcing the winners in the next issue.

Finally, may I and all the team here at Nursery Industry - Sophie, Caroline, Amanda, Lorna and Dave - wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year.

Cathy
