Holiday Kit
Published:  20 January, 2008

January is the time that thoughts turn to holidays. If you're spending a couple of thousand on a holiday, then a few pounds extra on making life easier with baby isn't a great deal and many parents would welcome the extra things which make their life easier - if they know about them! Products that are light in weight and fold up small can be a godsend and spending a few pounds on suitable equipment can make all the difference between a relaxing holiday and one where mum is continually stressed looking after baby.

Travelling with a baby can be fraught with difficulties. Although at many airports you can keep a pushchair until you board, they don't always guarantee to get it back just as promptly, often releasing it with all the rest of the luggage on the carousel. Wandering around tourist sites can be a right pain with a buggy. The answer, of course, is to use a sling or a backpack for the older ones.

It's not just in foreign climes that sun protection is important. The number of deaths from skin cancer is continuing to rise and in many cases, sun burn in early childhood is blamed. Babies' skin is very delicate and young babies should not be exposed to the sun at all. Despite the fact that there are around 400,000 sold every year, a parasol is a fashion accessory and will not provide sufficient protection, though many parents are unaware of this. There are a few suitable sun shades around with high UPFs so having them on prominent display is important.

Then there's swimwear - not only to look good but to provide sun protection; there's things to keep children happy - new toys that are easily packed; and there's things to keep them safe such as portable travel barriers. The list is endless but gives plenty of opportunity for promotions both in the shop and on-line.
