Family firms are far from dead, as Cam consistently proves. Founded 40 years ago by Franco Rho, who introduced his brothers to the company, it is now run by them and their children. All of them are involved in various departments and they are keeping the company young and vibrant, pushing forward with new ideas and projects, whilst adhering rigidly to having everything produced in-house and stamped with a big ‘Made in Italy.'
The heart of the operation is the 40,000 square metre factory, which is split into four sections. The first is for raw materials, where they are cut, shaped and prepared before being powder coated. All of this is done by state of the art machines, which can cut and weld fabric and pvc in one shot. The Neonato warehouse is also found in this section.
Section 2 is the home of pushchairs and other fabric products such as playpens or changing stations. They are assembled here along with car seats on two production lines, one of which is dedicated entirely to wheeled products. Amongst this bustle also lies the Cam warehouse. The third section is the origin of all things plastic, courtesy of the high-tech moulding machines, whilst the fourth section is the home of wood-effect articles. To illustrate the company's growth, work starts soon on an additional 7,500 square metres to house the car seat production line.
The working team is great, always making sure that the company is on the move with new ideas and further innovation, never letting the company or its products stand still in the modern market. This is why Cam and Neonato products are available worldwide.
The company is consistently moving from strength to strength. They have been attending major exhibitions in Cologne, Hong Kong, Russia, Spain and the UK as well as attending smaller, local events. Their appeal to independent retailers continued with the launch of the Neonato range which offered a complete nursery solution that was different from their competitors in the middle to high end of the market.
In 2003, the Neonato range was launched in the UK in its own right, allowing the company to go from strength to strength. 2008 will be a very special year for Neonato with a complete rebirth of the brand along with new products and a brand new logo. The idea is to get customers to buy into the Neonato way of life, not just purchase a single product. The range will drip with new fabrics and exciting Italian styling. Great margins can be made with a forward-thinking company such as this.
Demonstration is the key to improving sales. Knowing one's product from top to bottom, inside and out and being passionate about what you do is sure to impress. That's why Neonato took 50 customers to Italy to see the factory for themselves on a two day trip to give their customers better product knowledge. The more retailers know about the company and its products, the more they can give to their customers.
Michelle Welch and Mariano Cogodi would also like to thank their loyal and supportive retailers, and look forward to continuing to grow together.
