And, of course, I was there to see the Gold, Silver and Highly Commended Awards being handed out. Some of the winners were obvious to those of us guessing from the various shortlists; some were more difficult, but all of them were well deserved. It won't be long before the M&B Gold Award logos start appearing on the various products but to give you a head start, the winners are listed on page 8.
A couple of the winners deserve special mention. 2007 has been a special year for Kiddicare. They just keep on winning awards! The first was the Revolution Award - the just search award (for on-line search) then back in October, they won the BPA Baby & Child Retailer of the Year Award as well as the Boori Retailer of the Year. Sharon, their nursery manager, also won the Boori Salesperson of the Year. They followed this up with the Practical Parenting on-line Retailer of the Year, and then at the Mother & Baby Awards, they won Gold as Best Baby Catalogue/Shopping Website. Congratulations and well deserved.
The other winner I would like to mention is the Mother & Baby Award for Lifetime Achievement. This year it went to Bjorn and Lillemor Jakobson, the founders of Baby Bjorn. They have worked tirelessly for 45 years, creating the very best products. May they continue to do so for many more years.
Now Christmas is over, it is time to start thinking about 2008 and booking stands at our trade shows. Harrogate (March 30th to April 1st - No April Fools please!) is less than three months way. BPA Baby & Child is October 12th to 14th. It'll be odd without Jenny but I understand that Sarah Firth is taking over the bookings. Sarah is well known to exhibitors and will do an excellent job getting you all into place!
Finally, one piece of news which hasn't made the News pages but is, none the less, very important. This will be the last issue of Nursery Industry that I will be editing as I am moving on to other projects in 2008. I'd like to thank everyone for your help the last two years and I'm sure you'll give the new editor your support.
