New Baby Gifts
Published:  20 March, 2008

There is not other moment in your life that is anything like those first few days after having a first baby. It's a magical time when new parents feel an intoxicating sense of deep pleasure and delight at their own good fortune. The giving of a gift or keepsakes marks the specialness of this new phase. Whether the giver feels drawn to tradition or wishes to make a more modern grand gesture, all baby gifts are exciting.

Traditionally silverware has always had a strong market with little first tooth boxes, egg cup and spoon sets, artistically crafted silver photo frames and elegant birth certificate boxes have always been popular. There is also a place for porcelain too such as Royal Doulton Christening Sets, and children's classic book collections such as Beatrix Potter or Winnie the Pooh.

Soft toys welcome a new baby into the world with a gentle hug. Kaloo and Mamas and Papas have some beautiful first teddies. For more practical minds Ks Kids, Lamaze and Tiny Love toys suitable from birth always come with an educational, practical dimension.

Few mothers can resist new baby clothing. Baby Blooms offers a spark of humour too with it's carefully arranged baby bloom bouquets - flowers all made from new baby clothes.

Since bathing a baby is a daily if not twice daily occurrance in many families,  toiletry gift sets always prove popular. Neal's Yard Baby Gift Sets is one of the more expensive brands retailing at around £20, but Earth Friendly Baby, Burt's Bees and Avent also offer sets or individual lotions for new babies at lower price levels.

Finally do not forget the humble photograph. My CeWe Photo Book makes the most of digital cameras by arranging your photos for you using their unique software. They not only keep your precious memories safer than a traditional photo album, but they also make great personalised gifts parents will look back on.
