Q - When and where were you born?
A - Indiana, but I lived most of my life in California, so I consider myself more of a Californian than anything.
Q - Education?
A - I have a BS Degree in Business Administration from Purdue University.
Q - Qualifications?
A - I have a strong sales and marketing background. I have owned four successful companies. Katherine’s Closet is the fifth one. I find it exciting to take something from nothing and watch it grow and in turn create a profitable business with fresh exciting ideas
Q - Marital Status and family?
A - Married with one son and two lovely little granddaughters. Katherine’s Closet, is named after my oldest granddaughter who soon will be five. Now her little sister Claire is saying, "how about me?" We have plans in the next year or two to open Claire’s Cupboard as well.
Q - First job?
A - Believe it or not selling bill board advertising!
Q - Then?
A - That is covering a lot of years! I was a District Sales Manager for a large Insurance company in America and then went into Executive Recruiting.
Q - Present job?
A - I have been in the retail business for 10 years and presently I am the Managing Director of Katherine’s Closet which is a children’s designer boutique and we are currently expanding our lines into Maternity. I am also the Managing Director for Katherine’s Corky Couture and Katherine & Claire’s Couture, LLP. The latter two companies are children’s wholesale designer clothing companies from America.
Q - What do you do when not working?
A - Lately, all I have done is work, but when I am not working I enjoy travelling especially to see my family, but also to Europe. My favourite place is Vienna. There is so much culture and the architecture is amazing.
Q - Most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you?
A - Calling somebody by the wrong name, not once but several times!
Q - What would you like to be most remembered for?
A - I would like to be remembered not only for my accomplishments as a business woman, but as somebody who not only sells to the affluent Western World, but also contributes through charities to help less fortunate children. Katherine’s Closet is involved with The Global Fund for Children and part of the proceeds from the sale of their tee shirts, and baby onesies (all-in-ones) go towards helping to educate children in third world countries.
