National Breastfeeding Awareness Week
Published: 15 April, 2007
Since 1993, the Department of Health has co-ordinated an annual campaign, National Breastfeeding Awareness Week, aiming to highlight that breastfeeding is good for the health of mother and baby.
This year’s National Breastfeeding Awareness Week will be held from 13th -19th May 2007 and will be touching on teenage mums and the importance of support from partners, friends and relations in her choice to breastfeed. Research has shown that teenage mums have the lowest initiation rate of breastfeeding in the UK and the support and encouragement of family and friends is vital for successful breastfeeding to start and then continue.
