The UK's major reusable nappy manufacturer, Bambino Mio, has been selected as one of the four finalists for The National Business Awards Regional Programme in association with The Daily Telegraph.
The Northamptonshire-based company is in the running for The Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award for the Midlands & East of England region. Managing Director, Guy Schanschieff said, ‘We are very proud to be a finalist; The National Business Awards are extremely prestigious, they are the highest accolade for a British business to aspire to. The company has grown tremendously over the last few years, and winning the award would provide our company with real recognition for our achievements.'
Bambino Mio produces reusable cotton nappies and associated products, which have become increasingly popular over the last few years, with a movement towards more natural and environmentally friendly products.
A recent study has revealed that up to 35% of expectant and new mothers are now buying reusable nappies. This is a tremendous growth, considering that only 2% of mothers were buying them ten years ago.
From humble beginnings ten years ago the company has gone from strength to strength. It was initially run from home by Guy and his wife and products were sold via mail order only. Steady growth saw the business move into independent baby shops followed by national retailers. Now products are available in major high street stores such as John Lewis, Babies R Us, Mothercare and Boots.
In 2002, Bambino Mio was launched in Spain and Malta. Since then, Bambino Mio has proven to be a global success, as products are sold in 70 countries throughout Asia, Australasia, North America, Africa and Europe.
