Daisy Roots opt for an environmentally friendly leather
Published:  16 July, 2008

Daisy Roots have been designing and manufacturing childrens' footwear in Northamptonshire since 1995, supplying retailers worldwide.

In response to the recent increase in global awareness of the environment and health and safety, five years ago Daisy Roots decided to specialise in using only chrome free leather. Chromium sulphate (CR2(SO4)3) is a toxic chemical commonly used as a leather preservative in the tanning process and has been proved to be carcinogenic. Chrome, like other chemicals, can be absorbed into the skin through direct contact or ingested by babies sucking their shoes. Daisy Roots baby shoes are made from chrome free leather that exceeds the British Standard requirements to pass BS EN 71-3 1994 (Safety of toys - Part 3: Migration of certain elements) We believe that we are the only baby shoe manufacturer to offer this quality standard. Daisy Roots understands that choosing the correct footwear is important at any stage in a child's growth but even more critical during their first few years. Daisy Roots shoes provide the very best for childrens' feet in terms of quality and comfort, while still allowing the feet to breath and encourage continued healthy development. Daisy Roots' unique designs offer great styles with the best possible fit and quality. From newborn up to 4 years.
