Acid brights are set to break their usual summer limits this year as the nursery industry continues to utilise colour as a way of allowing parents to individualise their purchases, especially in the world of wheeled goods.
While Silver Cross' Azure colour way for their Fizz lightweight pushchair proved popular over the summer, the newer Dazzle colours - particularly the Grape and Pumpkin - are set to be a big hit this autumn, as is the Maclaren Four Seasons stroller concept.
Mamas & Papas are also embracing this trend for personalisation, most obviously in their new Joolz combination pushchair (that allows you to pick different coloured seats and carrycots as well as personalise with a vast array of brightly coloured accessories), and with the uber-slick Skate (with changeable coloured liners).
Yet while colour nudges the frontiers of parent choice and design forward, the big hit of the year is sure to be the relaunch of the original 1967 Maclaren Butcher's Stripe umbrella fold ‘buggy'. Pushing itself into the same ‘Design Classic' league as the Silver Cross Coach Pram, originals are already sparking bidding wars well into three figures on eBay.
Watch this space... it won't be long before we see relaunches of other nursery (wannabe) classics.
