Come on in to BPA Retail
Published:  16 July, 2008

Initially, take up for BPA Retail membership was disappointingly slow, probably because, as with many new initiatives, people are cautious and take a while to recognise the benefits before committing themselves. However, the message seems to be getting through and in recent months BPA has seen a significant increase in enquiries and has recruited several new members, the newest being Olivers Babycare of Winchester.

BPA Retail is a new trade association dedicated to both independent and multiple nursery retailers. It provides an environment where ideas, issues and experiences can be shared, to provide a common forum in which there exists a certain safety in numbers and an exchange facility to develop and promote best practice in the nursery industry. For example, if a retailer is seeking a supplier for a specific type of product, or is experiencing problems with a supplier, product or customer, BPA Retail may well be able to advise and bring about a positive outcome.

There are a number of benefits from membership, including discounts from many manufacturers and suppliers (particularly BPA members and exhibitors at BPA Baby & Child annual trade show), free PR (which is particularly valuable to smaller retailers and those just starting up in business), regular bulletins to keep up to date with technical issues, product safety requirements and all developments relevant to the nursery retail sector.

To join BPA Retail, members must demonstrate that they provide exemplary levels of customer service, treating their clients with care and courtesy  and that they can impart knowledge, experience and advice to customers. Accordingly when shoppers see a BPA Retail sticker in a shop window, they can be confident of receiving the very best advice on choosing the most appropriate product, instruction on how to use and care for the product and outstanding customer service.
