You may recall our campaign to change the rate of VAT on car seat bases from 17.5% to 5%. Following the rejection of our appeal to the Policy Unit of Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC), we have been heavily lobbying Westminster since the beginning of 2008.
We have met with a number of MP's from all parties and have put together a Budget Submission to HM Treasury (HMT).
Following a mailing campaign to all MP's, we have been successful in having an Early Day Motion set down by Mark Durkin MP which has now received 61 signatures from other MP's. We have received a host of letters of support from Ministers who are prevented from signing EDMs.
We have since met with HMT and HMRC in Whitehall and have demonstrated ISOFIX and pushed our case further.
We are hopeful that we can get this change implemented and the first indicator will be the Pre-Budget Report (PBR) from the Chancellor in the autumn. We remain optimistic that it will be included.
