Hello, yes I've jumped back into the world of wheels, baby carriers, feeding equipment, toddler toys and so on, but this time with a view to helping you, the retailer make the most of your business. Some of you might remember me from Baby & Toddler Gear magazine and previously Mother & Baby, Prima Baby and others. Well, now I've infiltrated the very core of the baby equipment industry, and I'm going to be editing Nursery Industry.

We at Which? would like to set the record straight about our child-seat testing and, in particular, the article published in our June 2007 magazine. The assertion by Peter White, writing on behalf of the Baby Products Association, that this was ‘sensationalist dross' (in ‘Which?... Whatever', July) is one with which we must take issue.

The Baby Show team are delighted to announce the birth of their fourth Show in the annual calendar which will take place at Manchester Central, 14th - 16th November 2008. This follows the successful launch of The Baby Show, ExCeL in March 2007; which brought the total audience across the 2007 Shows to over 74,000.

Nursery Industry would like to draw readers attention to the following error in our January issue. The editorial piece on the Mother and Baby award winners refers to NScessity being awarded a Silver at the Mother & Baby Awards for the Sun Essentials Travel Centre.  The were in fact given a Gold Award in the Best Travel Products category.  In addition, the Sun Essentials Travel Centre also won a Highly Commended in the Practical Parenting Awards.  Many congratulations to all the team at NScessity - well done!

Following the publication of the Which Child Seat report in June 2007, the BPA received a number of complaints from its members who considered parts of the report to be inaccurate and misleading for the consumer.  Two of the errors were corrected in the July issue but this didn't resolve all our concerns and requests for a clearer understanding of the tests conducted have to date gone unanswered. 

It is now well accepted practice for companies to have their products manufactured abroad. Frequently this decision is made based on reducing costs and little thought or attention is paid to the working conditions of the people actually making the products. Particularly smaller companies may well assume that there is very little that they can do to influence good practice in countries such as India and China. However this does not have to be the case. Frugi (Formerly Cut4Cloth), a small children's clothing company based in Cornwall, holds ethical manufacturing at the heart of its business. Nursery Industry went to talk to Kurt Jewson the company's co-founder to find out more.
