Directgov supersite launches new campaign promoting digital services
Published:  13 January, 2009

Directgov, the government's flagship digital service, is launching a new campaign to offer people real help with accessing public services and advice.

People will see a new character, an animated dog, in print, on radio, TV, Online and at ATM machines and recognise the voice of Mighty Boosh star Julian Barratt, on TV adverts. From this month (January 2009) the adverts will show people how they can use one website, Directgov, to access public services through the web, mobile phones and digital television. Topics range from the everyday including finding a school, renewing your car tax and planning a greener journey as well as dealing with more topical needs like family problems, finding a job or help with mortgage payments.

Directgov is an essential supersite which brings together services and information from various government departments, and is at the heart of the relationship between government and citizens in the digital space.

Mike Hoban, Directgov's new Communications and Engagement Director, said:

"We are very excited about the campaign which highlights the breadth of information available on Directgov. We already welcome more than 11 million visits to the Directgov website every month and this new campaign can only help to strengthen this leading position. As we face these challenging economic times, Directgov is an essential supersite for members of the public, and is also accessible by phone and mobile."

The creative for the campaign has been produced by Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy (MCBD).
