This month sees, the Baby Products Association, launch its 2009 award programme encouraging product innovation within the nursery sector. As the trade association representing the nursery industry, the BPA actively promotes new product development through their BPA Concept & Innovation award programme. For the finalists, it has proven to be a remarkable channel for promoting and even launching their new products.
In 2008 the award was presented to Tilly Beazeley and Phil Jackson for The Wean Machine, at the BPA Baby & Child trade show in October.Along with three other finalists, Tilly and Phil exhibited their winning idea on the BPA Concept stand for the duration of the trade event. The Wean Machine received such a positive response from the industry that the unique yet simplistic feeding device is now in production and due to be launched on the UK and international market very soon. This is a shining example of the BPA's endeavour to bring new innovative ideas to the attention of the industry.
This year sees the award programme evolve slightly; the core objective has always been to recognise new concepts and now the programme has grown to recognise designs in their infancy and those closer to the finished article.Under the umbrella of BPA Concept & Innovation, we now have two awards; the BPA Concept Award, acknowledging products still in their early visionary phase and BPA Innovation acknowledging products developed to a potential production stage.
The BPA invites anyone with a nursery product that is unique or unique in application to enter the award programme.Whether you are a student with a new concept that will challenge the boundaries of technology and design or an entrepreneur with a new product that will intuitively fill a gap in the market place, the BPA would like to hear from you.The chosen finalists will be given the fantastic opportunity to showcase their designs at BPA Baby & Child 2009 which will be held at London ExCel on 11th -13th October.
