Introducing the wean machine
Just fill, squeeze and feed!
Published:  15 June, 2009

The Wean MachineTM, an innovative new solution to the problem of preparing small portions of nutritious baby food, is to be launched in the UK and Ireland by Cheeky Rascals this month.

Already well received  in the US and winner of the 2008 BPA Innovation Award, The Wean Machine helps prepare fresh baby food with no mess, no fuss and no noise. Simply fill the bowl, squeeze the handles together to puree the food and spoon-feed baby direct from the bowl. The interchangeable small and large grills produce different consistencies for every stage of weaning - ideal for use with a variety of foods including soft fruits, cooked vegetables and pasta dishes. Dishwasher safe, it pulls apart for easy cleaning and fits in all leading sterilizers.

"I was preparing family food and extracting the vegetables to feed my baby" commented Tilly Beazeley, the inventor of The Wean Machine. "This presented the dilemma of how to physically prepare such small amounts and still fulfil the sterilization requirements. I always seemed to end up with piles of washing up and pans of boiling metal utensils - all for a tablespoon of food. Then I had my ‘WHAT IF' moment......!"

Portable, compact and self contained, The Wean Machine can be used at home or when out and about - mum can simply puree a banana for her baby, or share the food on her plate when eating out with friends or in a restaurant.  A key benefit is that it enables mothers to control exactly what is going into their baby's food - a hot issue in the current climate of concerns about the sugar and salt content in some prepared baby foods. And getting a child involved with different foods will help him to adjust to his new diet and enjoy more relaxed mealtimes.

"We are delighted to be working on the UK launch of The Wean Machine with creators Jackson Beazeley Ltd'," says Selina Russell of Cheeky Rascals. "It is one of those truly original new products that come along only rarely, fulfilling a real need and making life that little bit easier for new mums."
