Pre-school property Zigby made its magazine debut in the UK this month thanks to a new deal with BBC magazines.
The new license means DRi Licensing’s colourful children’s property will regularly star on the pages of CBeebies Weekly, Toybox and CBeebies Animals. Zigby, the cheeky and spirited zebra, made his first appearance in the February issues of CBeebies Weekly and Animals.
Zigby is enjoying a flying start to 2010 as the magazine signing follows hot on the heels of a deal with Martin Yaffe as master toy partner for the UK. The BBC is also broadcasting the 3D Zigby animated adventure series on CBeebies which has had very strong initial ratings.
Alicia Davenport, DRi’s Licensing Director said: “Zigby is going from strength to strength so far this year and we are delighted to be working with the BBC once again.
“We are very excited that Zigby’s appearance on CBeebies will be supported in three BBC titles and we look forward to the extensive coverage and exposure this will bring for this charming brand,” added Alicia.
DRi was appointed by Studio 100, the worldwide agent for Zigby, to manage an extensive co-ordinated licensing programme for Zigby in the UK and in addition to the TV series and toy signing, a number of other licensing developments are imminent in an array of product categories.
Zigby’s adventures began in a successful series of pre-school books which have been brought to life in this charming animated series. Zigby and his friends, McMeer the meerkat and Bertie, a guinea fowl, together with a host of other lovable animal characters, have many incredible adventures in their fabulous colourful jungle island home.
DRi Licensing’s property portfolio also includes Miffy, Boofle, Pink Cookie, Edward Monkton, Caroline Gardner, Madeleine Floyd and The World of Roald Dahl.
