Major Licensing Deal Signed For Pip
Pip the cat to appear on range of branded products from Shreds
Published:  13 May, 2010

KJG Ltd has announced that top licensee Shreds has signed a deal to produce a variety of products featuring Pip, the cute cat from Henries-finalist Over the Moon.

Pip is already a greetings card sensation, with the range stocked in over 500 outlets, including Fenwicks and all branches of John Lewis; the cards are also available via Moonpig.com and the Thorntons website and are selling well in territories across the world, with the designs currently on sale in France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

Shreds specialises in supplying top licensed character products that are designed to meet parents’ practical requirements without forgetting the fun element for kids; the new deal will see the company develop a range of Pip-branded products aimed at 2 to 4 year olds, including aprons, mini tote bags, giftpack melamine sets and lunchbags. The range will go on sale in garden centres, department stores and independent retailers across the UK.

“We are thrilled to be adding Pip to our portfolio and look forward to creating some fantastic new products with this fun-loving cat,” says Shreds MD Nick Shirley.

Shreds joins a burgeoning licensing programme for the Pip brand, with Bluebird Brands already on board for a range of mugs, coasters, purses, wallets and umbrellas, which are set to go on sale soon in supermarkets, department stores, independents and garden centres. In addition, Pip branded notebooks and party invites are proving to be a big hit after launching through Over the Moon at the end of last year.

Licensing agent Kirsty Guthrie, from KJG Ltd, is delighted with the new partnership: “This is a fantastic deal for Pip and the licensees we now have on board perfectly illustrate our marketing strategy for the brand - although the cards are aimed at all age ranges, we are targeting two specific demographics for licensed goods: young children, as represented by this new deal, and tweens up to students, as represented by the Bluebird Brands range. The designs used will reflect this.”
