Over 200 national journalists gathered at the only toy specific press event of the year, Christmas in July, to get a first glance of what’s going to be hot this Christmas.
Exhibitors included notable names such as Flair, Esdevium Games, Character Options, WowWee, Gibsons Games, MEGA Brands and Vtech, all of which had face to face contact with journalists who were all eager to spread the word about what they think will be the top toys this Christmas.
Organised by Evolution PR, Christmas in July 2011 hosted over 20 toy suppliers at the Camden Centre in London's Kings Cross. The event brings UK press and toy companies together under one roof and this year saw the highest number of journalists attend since its launch in 2006.
Demos took place of many new products including Jakk’s new T-Pain Mike and BIG Hand, an 82 year old lady proving you’re never too old to get on your bike and much more.
Christmas is July also hosted the first ever Mums Choice Awards, where influential mummy bloggers chose what toys they expect to be on their children’s Christmas wish list. Winners included Innovation First, Bladez Toys, and Vtech all of which will be talked about by tens of thousands of mums across the blogosphere in the run up to Christmas.
Event Organiser Claire Taylor, Evolution PR said: “This year’s event has been a fantastic success with more journalists in attendance than ever before, which created a real buzz. We are confident that the exhibitors will see lots of media coverage over the coming months.”
