Solvej Biddle has been awarded Women Business Owner of 2011 in the National Network of Aspiring Women Awards, at the inspiring, glitzy event attended by 250 guests at Villa Park Birmingham last Friday.
Solvej was presented with the coveted award by Jo Cameron - founder of the Network of Aspiring Women and Suzanna Reid of Anyevenze.
Jo Cameron said: “My congratulations to Solvej in what has been a super year of nominations.” In her keynote address on the day, Jo outlined why women are key to building the economies of the future and why their style of leadership is perfectly suited to steering the resurgence.
From the hundreds of nominations a shortlist was created and a stellar judging panel that included Gill Fielding - secret millionaire Rachel Elnaugh - former Dragon and leading entrepreneur made the final decision. Rachel commented: “What makes women entrepreneurs stand out is the extra mile that they go to support their community AND make a business success. A great story of guts and determination!”
Solvej added: “I am delighted and honoured to receive this award against some seriously tough competition. NOAW does a fantastic job supporting women in business. My feet haven’t touched the ground since giving up my career in law to launch Content&Calm two years ago. Our products are now selling in high street retailers throughout the UK and in 13 regions worldwide and I have lots more innovations in the pipeline! It’s the icing on the cake to win this fantastic endorsement after such a busy and at times scary two years!”
