You’re hired! Growing organic business welcomes an apprentice
Published:  06 November, 2011

Organic baby bedtime specialists The Little Green Sheep are delighted to announce the appointment of Eleanor Hayden, who joins the business as an apprentice. After completing her A -level studies, Eleanor was keen to join a young and exciting company where she could develop a wider business knowledge.

Having launched as an online business in 2006 the Little Green Sheep has experienced fantastic success and enviable growth over the last 4 years and now the appointment of Eleanor marks the next step in the businesses planned developments.

Co-founders Mark Nicholls and Paul Maurice have been committed to the brand since the beginning and that investment has certainly paid off. With a fast growing specialist product range, interest from international buyers and soon to be on sale in one of the UK’s major retailers it is safe to say The Little Green Sheep is on the road to great things.

The two entrepreneurs behind the business have successfully established a baby brand that is desirable and trusted by parents. Both Paul and Mark have cleverly ensured the whole business reflects the brands ethos starting with the office location being on an organic farm and developing luxury chemical-free products that are hand made in the UK.

Having ensured they take responsibility for making sure their goods are all fairly traded and ethically sourced, they are extending their principles to support young people during the recession. With youth unemployment close to 1 million, it’s important for businesses of all sizes to create opportunities for young people.

Marketing Director Mark Nicholls commented: ‘We support local craftsmanship, so it’s only right that we also support our local community by offering an apprenticeship. We are really excited Eleanor has joined us, she is fitting in really well, and it’s great to have some extra support especially during this period of expansion.’

It is in smaller businesses like The Little Green Sheep, that young people can gain really valuable experience. As the third member of the team, Eleanor will have an amazing insight into the running of the company, and her contribution will really make a difference.

Her hard work will of course be recognised by the team, but by the end of the academic year she will also have achieved a Level 2 qualification in Business Administration. ‘It’s a fantastic opportunity’ she says ‘I look forward to working and growing with the business over time.’

It’s going to be a busy time for The Little Green Sheep so watch this space!
