John Crane Ltd has announced six new appointments.
Stewart Betts
Stewart joins John Crane Ltd as Senior Designer. Stewart graduated from the University of Derby in 2005 with a first class degree in product design and has won various awards from commercial projects submissions including JCB and Best in Show at the University of Derby degree show.
He joins John Crane Ltd from Sue Ryder, where he designed their wooden products, mainly dolls houses & furniture, children's wooden stools and bedroom accessories Hi career highlights include developing guitars with Mark Griffiths (base player with the Shadows), designed a wooden fantasy castle and plastic figurines toys for the Daily Mail and Sue Ryder (collect tokens in the newspaper deal), as well doing POS, packaging, catalogues and product photography.
David Close
David has left school after studying business and I.T and joined John Crane Ltd as an Apprentice.
His mother is the manager of a Sure Start children’s Centre where he has done voluntary work and he is keen to work in the toy industry and build his marketing and business skills.
Amy Russo
Amy has also studied Business Studies at GCSE and A-Level and joins John Crane Ltd as an Apprentice.
Commenting on her new role she added: ‘I am thrilled to have such an amazing opportunity to study how the marketing & PR department works and in such a fun industry!’

Doug joins us as an agent for the Scottish territories.
Doug started in the Toy industry in Jan 1988 and has an excellent toy pedigree including; Humbrol , Matchbox/Universal Toys, Majorette, Modeltime, Ideal Toys, Bandai, Tiger Electronics (Furby), Chicco, Gibsons Games, Toyway, Supercast and Nici. Having also sold brands such as Power Rangers, Betty Spaghetti, Bratz, Spiderman, Furby, Airfix, Dinky, Girls World Styling Head, Tiny Tears, Dungeons and Dragons, Mr.Men and Little Miss books and many more. Having left the industry to live in Spain he ran a company selling new property for five Spanish builders. Doug is excited to be back in Toys!
Steve West
Steve West joins John Crane Ltd as Area Sales representative for Northern England.
Steve is based in Derbyshire and has ten years sales and marketing experience within the FMCG/retail/education industries. Most of this buying experience included buying John Crane toys for Findel PLC!
Emily Walford
Emily joins John Crane Ltd as Area Sales representative for Midlands and East Anglia
Emily has gained her sales experience working within the automotive sector for ten years, selling vehicles for two large manufacturers - Ford and Volvo, then progressing on to work for Trafficmaster and TeleAtlas as a Dealer Account Manager. Emily is looking forward to continuing in the world of sales, and meeting everyone in the toy industry.
