Bubble London will be proudly flying the flag high for a summer of great Britishness as Bubble Homegrown launches in celebration of brands designed and manufactured in the UK, at the spring/summer 13 event which takes place from 17‐18 June at the Business Design Centre, Islington.
As the global spotlight shines brightly on the British Isles this summer for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, Bubble London will be extending the festivities by championing the industry talents that have remained true to their British roots by running their businesses from UK shores. Bubble Homegrown will celebrate these labels and their dedication to promoting the benefits of locally sourced fabrics and manufacturing to ensure ethical production, high quality fashion and the reduction of their carbon footprint. A special installation to be unveiled at the show will be a salute to homegrown stars such as show newcomers Immink as well as regular favourites including Rock n Regal, Poppet, Helen Gordon, Beau Loves, Grubbies, Pili Pala and Poppy.
Maria Barnes, designer of family‐run babywear label Poppet says, “The Bubble Homegrown campaign is a great way to help UK businesses such as ours, as it helps to highlight the UK clothing manufacturing industry, which has fallen significantly over the years. Everyone is celebrating all things British this year, and I think anything we can do to help our local businesses and support the UK economy will start to show the rest of the world that the UK really can deliver quality products that the customer wants.”
Helen Gordon, designer and owner of retro‐inspired clothing and accessories label Helen Gordon, explains why remaining homegrown is so important to her, “We are working with UK businesses as we want to support British manufacturing and help to keep this industry alive. If we do not support these industries now then the manufacturing skills that have been developed over the years will be lost forever. There are various advantages for working in the UK including, shorter lead times, they allow more flexible minimums, there are no language barriers and we can visit the factories regularly and develop relationships.”
The creativity produced from the British manufacturing industry complements the Bubble London ethos of offering retailers excellent products with an emphasis on provenance. Bubble London event director Lindsay Hoyes, says, “Bubble London provides a superb platform for amazing brands from all over the world, but this season we felt it was the right time to celebrate those British brands that are designed and manufactured in the UK. Bubble Homegrown highlights these products and provides retailers with insight into what it means to be a truly British brand and the quality, style and integrity this offers.”
The spring/summer 13 edition of Bubble London will play host to a global gathering of the most fabulous brands showcasing the latest children’s clothing, shoes, accessories and interior collections from 17‐18 June at the Business Design Centre, Islington.
