Birmingham was bursting with excited parents and parents-to-be on the lookout for the very best baby buys at The Baby Show and it certainly did not disappoint! Packed with all the UK’s biggest baby brands all in one place, parents were busy comparing, trying and buying the latest in all things baby. With over 250 top brands to choose from including Fisher-Price, Mamas & Papas, Mothercare, Marks & Spencer, Britax, tommee tippee and new companies Mammae, Poco Nido, Kinderroom and Curaprox, parents were spoilt for choice.
Spotted amongst the shoppers were some super excited celebrity mums and mums-to-be including Danielle Lloyd, actress Natalie Anderson, Kelly from Liberty X and The Apprentice’s Claire Young all seen browsing the exhibitors latest collections. It doesn’t stop there; doting dads and dads-to-be Ray Quinn and Donal McIntyre were also papped enjoying themselves looking at a whole host of fantastic products on offer! There were around 24,000 parents at the show at the weekend, final numbers will be confirmed by Clarion next week.
Back by popular demand were the midwives from Channel 4’s Bafta Award winning TV show One Born Every Minutes who spoke on the main stage, discussing their experiences on the maternity ward, offering the very best advice to visitors. Commando Dad was a new speaker to the show and put dads to-be minds at ease with his stories and handy tips. Also a hit was Jo Tantum whose sleep expertise proved beneficial to so many! Other popular guest speakers included The British Red Cross talking about first aid, Clare Byam-Cook offering the best breast-feeding tips, weaning expert Annabel Karmel and Louise Baguley discussing healthy teeth for babies and toddlers.
Fashion-loving visitors were seen admiring the Baby and Maternity fashion show held by Mothercare on the main stage every afternoon of The Baby Show. Visitors watched in excitement as the newest baby and maternity collections strutted down the runway – we certainly had dress envy for the entirety of the show!
Melanie Hall, Show Manager said: “We are delighted with how successful The Baby Show NEC was. Visitors left the show feeling happy and confident with their purchases and having enjoyed a wide range of advice from our experts on The Stage with Prima Baby . The Baby Show really is the best place to get a brand in front of its target audience.”
Sales Sheriff Toby Davis, Head of UK Sales for Trunki was delighted with how the show went. He says: “We had one of our busiest shows in terms of footfall and sales this year at the NEC. We took a good amount of stock and managed to sell out of pretty much everything. We had less choice on offer but more of it at great prices so our stand was a lot easier to shop especially as it was twice the size as last year’s show. The best part of the show for us though were the customers who we had a real giggle with. The surprise of the show for us though was that a number of expectant parents bought our Olympic and Team GB Trunki cases as a keep sake for them in the Olympic year.”
The next Baby Show takes place in Manchester 31st August – 2nd September 2012. For more information visit www.thebabyshow.co.uk.
