Premium children’s eco-boutique, Harmony at Home, has shown that businesses can succeed in a challenging economic climate by launching its second boutique in Sussex.

Headed up by Frankie Gray, entrepreneur and founder of Harmony at Home Ltd, one of the UK’s most exclusive nanny consultancies, the decision to open the second boutique follows a period of growth since the brand first opened its doors in August 2011.

The first boutique gained a national following when it provided an opportunity for sustainable manufacturers to showcase their renewable, reusable and ethical children’s products.

The brand has since gained a national in-store and online reputation for its product portfolio and is on track to launch eight more boutiques over the next five years.

On the opening of her second boutique Norland College graduate Frankie comments: “The economy has far from recovered however there is clearly a market for sustainable children’s products and I’m pleased to have created a business that has become nationally renowned for making them widely available. The second boutique coincides with our ambitious expansion plans and I expect Harmony at Home to open shops throughout other parts of the UK within the next two years.”

The inspiration for the eco-boutiques came when Frankie struggled to find a unique sustainable gift for a children’s birthday party. The business now employs several people and has demonstrated a 40 per cent increase in turnover compared with the same period in 2011.

Mrs Liz Hunt, Principal at Norland College, adds: “Frankie has show the same level of dedication in her professional career that she demonstrated throughout her time as a Norland College student. Her success will no doubt be an inspiration to our students and reinforces how Norland College provides its pupils with the foundations for success in the childcare industry.”

On growing the business Frankie, who is the mother of two sons and expecting her third child in February, concludes: “Balancing life as a mum and a businesswoman is a challenge, yet it’s one that I love. My children are my inspiration and running a business means that I get the best of both worlds, which I achieve only with the support of my family, loyal staff and, of course, my nanny, Samantha.”
